MPD32 has the defective MPC1000 pads?

I read on a site that the MPD32 has the same pads as the MPC1000.

Well, that got me thinkin, is it the blue one or the newer black ones that have the upgraded pads. So I emailed Akai this is what they said :

"The MPD32 ships with pads like on the Black MPC 1000's with the retro pad
kit."

what does retro pad kit mean? the blue / black MPC with the older pads? I wouldn't doubt Akai would do this and just pass the buck on the pad issue..

If its true, think the MPD will have "newer" pads and their next new product will have the shitty pads for a short while until the back stock is all used up

I read that myself and it got me curious as well.

Next time I get to the local Guitar Center I'll wiggle the pads and see if I can tell the difference.

yah I'ma try that too. I think the defective pads have circle sensors under the rubber. Hopefully it will be as easy as just pressing on the very corner of the pad to see what sensor it has.

I know the other MPCs have squares that take up the whole pad.

Can anyone confirm if the pad upgrade kit has square sensors?

retro pad kit means actually new pads. Is the mpd32 like the mpd24? I've messed once with the mpd24 and i didn't like the "flat rubber sensation".

Trust me: Akai will never market another new unit with the old 1000 pad design. This fact is in itself an Akai admission as to the reliability of their "quicky money saver" in house design original 1000 pads. They've already earned (and I do mean earned) themselves enough abuse from the first round of shiftyness.

when akai says "retro pad kit" they mean Sensitronic Force Sensing Resistors.
