Hi people how are you all?

I'm a normal guy with a love for music and a need to produce music that sounds the way I want it to!!!

I,ve recently bought a MPC 1000, E-MU 0404 sound card and a laptop (software cubase LE).

Ive installed the sound card and the new drivers from the emu sight for Windows Vista. I have configure the emu soundcard so that sound from the laptop plays only through the emu 04004.

My problem is that I want to record tracks from the MPC onto cubase in order to burn finished instrumentals onto disc.
I realise that its probably laughable to you guys but I'm a novice/beginner and I'm not sure how to hook the laptop to the sound card.

Ive tried the following set up...

MPC1000 MIDI IN (1)>>>>>>EMU 0404 sound card MIDI out via midi cable.
MPC1000 Stereo out (L) and (R)>>>>>>EMU sound card S/PDIF (IN) and (OUT)
Selected Mode>>Midi/Sync on MPC1000 (Channel 2)

and nothing has happened...I dont know if Ive connected them incorrectly or its something I have'nt done on CUBASE LE.

I realise this is a basic problem but to me its very frustrating and its preventing me from doing something I enjoy very much....

I would appreciate any advice/instructions from the more technically aware and experienced users out there.

Apart from this problem I look forward to hearing from other MPC1000 users and learning new things

Thanks in advance.

JKC.

Well for starters it looks like you have connected the 1000 analog stereo outs to a digital input and output. That will not get you far. You need to either connect those stereo analog outs to a set of stereo analog inputs or use a good set of RCA plug coaxial cables to connect the MPC digital S/PDIF in/out to the soundcard S/PDIF out/in.

Read those manuals.

Thanks for taking the time to reply.
Like I said I'm a novice and even the manuals can be other worldly with all the technical terms.
At least I now know whats up .... thanks again.
