black & blue MPC 1000. any difference??

I'm just wondering.. I don't own an MPC yet. still lookin for one, and being not quite sure which one to get. now I've read a couple of times that the 1k would be the beginners choice.
The black is obviously some update, but is it just the skin??

Bottom line if you get one you want to buy the black one with the new pads. Search the forums theres a billion posts on the faulty pads from the Blue 1000. Just be advised that not all black 1000's had the new pads.

Look at the serial number. If it starts with MPC1000BK-N , then you have the right one.
