So, I’m following the Bible 3 and noticed that colours on my MPC Live do not match the Bible content. Specifically, page 86, the ‘Play’ button next to the text Arrangement (tab) is a pinky cerise colour as opposed to the vivid green in the book. Same with the bouncing meter &other elements on the page. The actual pads are fine and as setup in the project% Just the screen colour. Why is this please & how do I change the colour? In anticipation, thanks.

That's the track color, this is randomly generated by MPC3 so in examples where you create a project from scratch the track colours in your project will likely be different to the colours used in the book. Later in the course I show you how to change track colors by holding down on the track header to bring up the 'track settings' screen (it's the same screen where you rename the track - colour is at the bottom)

EDIT: I've added a note in chapter A03 that clarifies this, it will be in the next revision (hopefully out tomorrow)

Overall, I love this! Just entered the MPC world with a new Keys 37. This is so much better than trying to slog through the Akai manual.
However, I got stuck for a few hours right at the start trying to do something that is presented as a brief setup....transferring the MPC Bible files to the Key 37.

Key 37 is NOT MacBook Pro friendly! It does not recognize my Mac (2019 intel). I have tried 3 different cables and nothing works. Tried troubleshooting through your forums and inMusic, and Reddit. Nothing works (I do have a ticket pending at inMusic now).

I tried loading files by attaching a SanDisk SSD, but they ended up in the wrong place and I ended up with multiple copies. Reloading each time at Key 37 startup was a mess in the beginning.

FINALLY, I figured out how to correctly set them up in the SSD connected to my Mac so when I connected it to the Key37 the icons appeared properly.

SUGGESTION: Maybe a little more detail about how to properly list them on the SSD so the Key 37 will see them in the right place and form (expansion??? which one? Internal drive, SSD? I had this set up incorrectly, but could not see that for a long time.) Your one illustration (page 46, I believe) lacks sufficient context. I was over a hundred pages in when I erased everything and started over. Now it works like the Bible illustrations show (still can't read it with my Mac however- but not your fault).

Hope this is helpful from a newbie perspective. Now that I finally got off the ground I am thoroughly enjoying this and learning a lot. Thanx

No problem with a key 37 here on a 2019 intel iMac, what exact problem are you having?

You can't copy to the internal drive (first page of chapter A02), but the entire Expansions folder from the MPC Bible download is just copied to the root location of whatever disk you wish to copy it to (in fact if you wish, you can have multiple 'expansions' folders over multiple disks, the MPC will collate them together within the 'Expansions' tab).

As long as the 'Expansions' folder is in the root location of a connected disk, its contents will get picked up by the MPC and will show in the 'Expansions' tab. I'll take another look at those instructions to see if they can be made clearer. Out of interest , where were you originally copying the Expansions folder?

I saw that statement about not loading to the internal drive, but I guess I thought it meant to attach my ssd directly and copy files to the root of the internal drive, but not through a computer. In fact, I thought I had actually placed them in the drive. I did delete them using the file delete system in the MPC. But now I can't go back to see how it was setup, so must have been my confusion. Also, I created a new expansion folder, unnecessarily (I realize that now). Of course the internal drive can have things placed in it, via wifi, so that is not really a clear statement for someone new to this system. Obviously it's not just ROM.

When I look at the browser 'places' it shows a stack of items: Internal, MPC docs, MPC demos, MPC Factory. This was very confusing to me. Are they ALL in the internal memory or what?

Anyway, I ended up with more than one MPC Bible3 folder and a big mess. Finally, I erased it all and directly loaded into the SSD, connected it directly, and work with it that way. Seems to be ok now.

HOWEVER, I still cannot go to connection mode and read ANYTHING from my MacBook Pro. I got a response from inMusic that was no help. They just told me about the internal memory thing, but did not address the inability to connect to my Mac as an outside memory source (even with the SSD attached). I am waiting for a second response.

My searches tell me that I am not the only person with difficulty connecting a Mac to the MPCs. Apparently I may be the only one who cannot find a solution that works.
But at least I can continue your excellent tutorial.

CONTROLLER. MODE, not connection mode. Another mistake I keep making. Sorry.

I should also hopefully have an all-year-round 'Build a Bundle' system in place by then, which will give you a volume discounts on carts comprising of 2 or more individual expansions/tutorials (including the MPC Bible). Just performing the final testing now.

This is incredible work Tutor. I'm all about helping the disadvantaged. I'm blessed enough to have a meager income and the ability to spend on gear and donate from time to time. If I don't the money, I give my time.
