Hello everyone
Im using JJOS Free for your interest.
I dont really understand how the Track Move in SEQ EDIT works.
Im trying to fix the whole sequences into a song because i changed the tracks data from sequence to sequence, and when trying to convert the whole song into a sequence it mixes everything together.

So, really hope to get any help from you becuase i just dont get the Track Mode (after reading the manual too) and how it works. what exactly do i need to do to fix my song converting into a sequence (in the track mode)?

Thanks in advance!
Raz.

ok, cool thanks.
now im trying to figure out how the f-ck Track Move is working because i really dont get it.
I get what you'r saying, im a newbie and always felt like i dont really understand how track fields are working out, now i actually do and it make more sense.
still, i dont understand how do i move tracks for example from seq 3 to seq 1. seq 1 is my 1ST (in song mode), the tracks needs to be sorted like my other sequences tracks (ive copied the tracks that were "duplicated" and data changed and moved to an unused tracks, from sequence to sequence), with my understanding i just need to copy all of the tracks that does not appear to be on the 1st sequence - into it.
maybe im wrong and it wont work that way, it will be pretty damn sucks if its more complicated than that... :\

thanks again!

Seems like you are talking about 2 different things.
You shouldn't be thinking about moving things from one sequence to another you should be thinking more like you are shuffling the tracks within a sequence so that the same parts line up per track in each sequence.
Then song mode can deal with them properly.

You also do it by copying tracks, the key is to be systematic and not confuse your layout when moving tracks around.

Eventually you get in the habit of keeping things aligned sequence to sequence as you create.

Mpc's only read track assignments from the first song step (first seq).
Get the first seq tracks lined up how you want them in seq mode. Afterwards, follow
ntalecs advice. After that when you convert song to seq all tracks line up and it will
playback perfectly fine.

Hey! first of all thank you both.
I understand what ur saying, but i still need the first sequencer to be filled with all the missing track from the other sequences, or dont i? because ive sorted all the tracks on all sequences but still some parts are missing in the song's converting sequence.

and just to get this better for next time - i should always use a new track when adding new element to the sequences? never change a track that is being used in another sequence?

thanks again!!!

What we are trying to say is that tracks have to line up per sequence even if you don't record anything on the track.
So if
Track 1 = bass
Track 2 = guitar
Track 3 = piano
Track 4 = kick
Etc

Then that's the same order they have to remain in every sequence if you want to use song convert.
The problem is not the data but the order of what it plays.

Make one main first sequence. Make sure all tracks are where you want. Copy that main sequence. Make edits in the copy. Etc. A little better beginning organization will help later down the line. I don't know your OS so I don't know if there is a move seq1 trk1 to seq2 trk1. If not then follow the advice when creating future projects.

All else fails, remake the trk from scratch, option I guess.

if you look at this statement his problem seems to bei in creating the first sequence.
Notice he said adding to a sequence and changing to another sequence?
Just looks like he just needs to work on his method of creation and get a better grasp on how to use tracks within a sequence Moreso than just changing sequences.

Just remember to put the different elements on different tracks and put the variations (or changes) in different sequences.
That's probably the simplist way to explain it.

it will also help to understand that a sequence is just a set of tracks playing, and while you could have your kick, snare, sample, hihats, and everything else on 1 track, its easier to edit it and do mutes and stuff if you assign each track to a different instrument.

i usually orgainize it like this

trk 1-sample
trk 2-snr
trk 3-kick
trk 4-hi hat
trk 5- bass
then the rest of the tracks are reserved for extras that are specific to one beat, or for variations on an istrument ( for example, so i can have two kick tracks and mute one of them, without having to record over my original kick track, or copy the whole sequence to a new one.

then when i do want to copy my sequence, i do it in seq edit, and copy everything over to a new sequence, then usually (if im making a verse) i usually do it in two 8 bar sequences named verse pt1 and vesrse pt 2. then since i dont want so much variation in the drums of my verses, i just leave them the same to start off with and edit certain parts of the sample (for example the ending of the 8th bar on verse pt 2, so it transitions well into the hook. i usually also edit the end of the sample in verse pt 2 so it transitions well also. sometimes even the 4th bar of verse part 2 gets some varaition, it all depends on the beat really, but basically, everything starts out as a formula and i stick to it every time; keep in mind that verses are usually pretty repetiive and maybe even boring to listen to (if your not super into instruemntal hip hop or a rapper) so they usually dont vary too much within the 16 bars.
also keep in mind that there is sometimes a breakdown verse though, and dont be afraid to explore more non-traditional song structures.
if it works, it works!
keep at it man, im sure youll figure this stuff out soon if you really like this mpc stuff!
