What's Wrong With These Monitors?

Looking thru most of these threads i've seen KRK, Behringer, M-Audio, etc named as the best monitors to get. And most of those retail for a lot. These SEEM ok but they're only $40 so whats the catch

MAAAN dont wast your money....$250 retail

thats like the white van you see in the parking lot selling the "hi fi" stereos that are usually $2000 but they have over stock so they are letting them go for $50 also, KRK, Behringer, M-Audio are not the "best". SUre they will work depending on your budget and there are certain cats who have been known to get ok results with them but cheap monitors will always be cheap monitors.

that part right there made my day, after seeing the pair go for $40.

Another "what monitors should I get" question.

All monitors will sound different because of the acoustics in your "studio," buy what you can afford, try them out at your place, if they don't sound good, return and exchange.

Ok. If it's buy what u can afford why did dude say not to waste my money on the 1s i posted.

Look at the yamaha hs80m's. I also have a pair of jbl lsr's. Those are dope but the cost is obviously more

Ya know its funny.. For years working working in different studios I had usually had the priveledge of playing back on Mackie hr824's, and NS10m's.. so many ppl had em.

then a while passed by where I wasn't around em. When it came time to buy my monitors, I went with the Yamaha HS series. I have BOTH the 50's and the 80's.

I LOVE my 80's. Or should I say LOVED them. Recently a friend brought and left to me his Mackie HR824's. I have them side be side currently with my HS80's. WOW. what a difference. The HS80's are bright, and lack full bottom end and mid range freq. Before hand I never realized it, and would SWEAR by the HS80's for playback, and critical mixing on the 50's. Now Im not sure, and switch back and forth alot to hear things from "all angles" I guess u could u say.

Then again, maybe the Mackies are bass heavy, and muddy and lack high end? lol

My point.. is when your dealing with the subject of monitors opinions are very subjective.
you need to find your budget, and GO LISTEN IN PERSON with source audio that YOU BRING. like a mix you did that you know well, or your favorite song that sounds good everywhere!!!

Even NOW I couldn't say which speakers i like the best. they ALL have their pros and cons and play their respective positions wisely. But if I had an RTA in front of me and could find which monitors were REALLY the flattest...
I would play those 75% of the time, and use my others to reference and playback during creation and mixing.

Not to mention the whole entire other subject of your listening environment. That in itself can wreak havoc on what your monitors are doing versus what your hearing..
