how do i get my midi controller to sync with my 1k????

how do i get my midi controller to sync up with my 1k?? basically i want to be able to play the keys on my midi controller, and be able to record it to the sequence on my mpc. do the piano sounds have to be in my mpc as well or just assigned to the controller??? any help would be appreciated.

Yes the sample should be in the MPC assigned to the proper keys....Midi connet controller out's to mpc in's....1 or 2....Then hit mode Pad 9....F2 and selet the midi channel your plugged into.....Easy now...
