MPC

Hey guys. I've been making music for about 10 years, and have always been a fan sampling. I've watched some you tube videos with artists (such as Vinroc), making beats and am interested in purchasing an MPC. I would be doing this mainly as a hobby, but would still like to have the professional sound to accommodate this hobby. I know there are many MPC's on the market, and I'm not looking for the best, but I'd like to know if all the MPC's have pretty much the same capability to do sampling and make my own productions with, if I should favor one over the other, or what? I have a limited budget, and I came across an MPC 2000 XL, for a couple hundred dollars. Would this be a safe route to go if I'm just starting out?

2kxl is very user friendly and capable of doing what u need, I think.

All mpc's are user friendly and combine a sampler with a sequencer. 2kXL and the 1k are probably very instresting when money is a bit of an issue. 2kXL is sturdier. the 1k maybe have problems with the pads but have better storage facilitys.

for a couple hundred dollars, I'd would really look into either an SP-505 or MPC 500. both are relatively the same. just research both and see which one suits your needs. Or if you wanna go a step further, get an MPC 1000 with the upgraded pad set, 128MB RAM and JJOS

Never been a big fan of the 500 but for a great price you can get yourself a 1000. Make sure it has new pads but JJOS is great and with a couple upgrades(128mb ram and hard drive) you have quite a beast! really a matter of personal opinion though. If you can, go to a music store and try some of the samplers out to get a feel for what works for you.

Ive tried the 100 w/ jjos and now I have a 2kxl, imho, it depends on what music your doin. MPC 100 has overall more capabilities, and are pretty beastly, just dont abuse it. The pads are small and cluttered tho, so the 2kxl is awesome for classic hip hop, you need an external sequencer to live record, but if you got good DAW, it covers it. Overall, the 2kxl is a much simpler machine, but the 1k is power in a small, cheep package. So, I would say flip a coin. The 500 I have no idea about. But if you can find one(I let one slip away, mpc60 for 350, but another thread another time)for helluva deal, Ide say get a 3000.(dreams, slobbers a bit) nyway, a couple hundred, ide say flip a con between the 1000 and 2kxl, both are the same price nowadays, unless you want a new 1000.
