Chopping.. need some help

Whats good? As you can see I am new to this site. I use an MPC 1000 and I do have one of those annoying "NOOB" questions. I have been sampling for a while and got the hang of it.. sort of. Im good with chopping up samples with no drums and then putting it on top of the drums I already programed. But I want to chop up complete samples maybe like an instrument break in a record (for instance) and does have drums in it. I am having a hard time chopping up those kinds of samples and keeping the chops in time with my drums... any tips? Also... I know that you need to chop them in accordince with every "hit" or peak of the sample but I can't figure out how to adjust each chop when I slice em say into 16 regions. Like I said.. I would appreciate a point in the right direction.

are you using the JJos?

Usually if I'm taking a part with drums already in it Ill slice the sample into X amount of regions then just zoom in and adjust start and end points as needed. It does take a little practice to get right.

I personally love chopping on it. Not that autochop BS but overall its nice and straight forward.

There are many different ways to go about this. Maybe you can even change your whole approach by playing with the chopped samples and creating a sequence, figure out the bpms and THEN play a drum pattern to fit that sequence as opposed to having a drum pattern first. It's all a matter of trial and error in the beginning until you develop your own style of creating beats that you're comfortable with. Good luck!
