MPC 1000 Crashing

Hey. Just wondering if anyone has had this problem or can possibly help. MPC 1000. Never had any problems with it before tonight. When I try to sample in STEREO the MPC locks up, crashes. In MONO L or MONO R it seems to be operating just fine. But when I hit record in STEREO again it crashes. Let me know if you know.

never had that happen on my 1000 since 2004, did you purchase it used? sounds like it may have been dropped down some stairs.

Format your hard drive then reinstall windows, then install an anti-virus =D

D-One. Woke up the next morning and it workded fine. I'm kinda worried about that. Do you have an opinion on the JJOS? And How would I reinstall the AKAI OS? I'll dig into the manual also. Thanks

My opinion about JJ OS is that if it didnt exist i would sold my MPC a long time ago. (But thats just me)
If you want to put the Akai OS back again just download it from akaipro.com, put it on the Card/HD and load...

Okay. Thanks. One more question....... In your opinion, should I wait(to switch to JJOS) until I understand all the ins and outs of the AKAI OS? Or should I be going through my learning curve with the JJOS?

NO.

Do not bother with the Akai OS. Use the JJ os and never look back. You wont have any bug problems either.

+1 When i got the JJ OS i felt like I got a new piece of equipment. Just upgrade and learn the OS, instead of learning the stock OS and switching and relearning. .

Start with the free version right? Then upgrade?

Installed JJOS 3.09. And it happened again. I'm starting to notice this happening after I've had the MPC on for awaile. Has anybody had any problems with their machine overheating or acting funny after a long period of time.

I'm wondering if the SODIMM is acting funny after it gets to hot????

But why would I still be able to sample in MONO?

Let me ask again if anyone could think of why the machine would lock up due to REC in STEREO?

Still baffled.... At a loss....

Remove the RAM and see if the problem persists. If it fixes the issue, you have faulty RAM.

Last night....... I was trying to SAVE, what I was messing around with before I went to bed, so I could revisit today.... And the bastard locked up on me again!! So now I've had my machine freeze in two completely different situations. Sampling in STEREO and now while SAVING!!!!!

F@*$!!!

Is this a software or hardware issue? Has ANYONE had problems with their machine CRASHING or LOCKING UP????
