I just got my mpc2000xl about a week ago and im still having problems with the zip drive. Here's what i got:
USB 100 MB external zip drive running out of my pc
i got 100 MB Fuji zip discs. Now, i have on my pc about 1000+ drum samples in wav format (anything from 100kb-1MB in size). i saved about 100MB's worth of samples onto 1 zip disc. i then put the zip disc into the mpc2000xl and it did not recognize the disc. So, i formatted the disc on the mpc2000xl and stuck it back into the pc. I'm no genious or computer wizard so i don't know if this was a good idea to do so. After putting the zip disc into my pc, i tried opening it up but windows read "please put a disc into drive F" (meaning it wasn't recognizing that there was a disc in the drive).
I got really annoyed with this so i decided to just record sounds from my turntable into the mpc2000xl. When i was ready to save these sounds onto a disc, i put in a disc and pressed save. The next day i tried to load those sounds back into the mpc2000xl but the mpc said that there was nothing on the disc.
I have no clue where or how to begin working this thing. I thought it would be easy to use (which it probably is to most people) but i'm having some trouble. If anyone has the slightest idea of what i'm doing wrong please help. Also, would it be wise to get a SCSI zip drive?
