Few Basic Questions about MPC

Few Basic Questions about MPC

1. How do people put songs on mpc so they can chop it up in the mpc? like Mp3 files? is that possible? Cuze i put a song to sample on the CF card but it never showed up. it was mp3 maybe thats why? how do people on youtube do it?

2. When i go to Mode>Load>Memory Card>Kit>Snare. wav>Do it> i get "WRONG FILE!!". and if i load the whole kid and go to Mode>Pad11. only 3 sounds from that kit are there. even tho everything is wav file?

3.how do i record a whole song? I understand the loop and track. how would i record a song for 4 mins and have change ups in it. like hook and stuff

4. how do i make so when i press the tag it plays the sample til i take my finger off and the sample stops

You'd go though the manual, read and practice on the stuff you read about, then combine all that
info in your head, and get busy. You gotta know what your machine is capable of, then you produce accordingly.

it's almost like there should be some kind of quiz made up that you have to answer questions .. basic ones found in the manual/s of your specific machine as a pre forum sign up requirement


or maybe we are just assholes

WORD! Man I swear, I think some of these cats watch too much youtube and think that the damn MPC will do all the work for them. Before I bought my new 2500 I studied every piece of the manual + any tutorial vids available. Do the work NEWBIES! :lol:

regarding the wrong file issue, you have to make sure your sampes are 44.1mhz and 16bit. not 24bit, which a lot of cds/dvd sample sets come in. other than that you have to read the manual and other forum topics...trial and error and web will answer a bunch of questions...

quick note to all the other haters that are holier-than-thou MPC f*cking experts...this is the 'Getting Started' forum. If you're soooooo f*cking good that this MPC sh*t, read the 'I'm a F*cking Expert B*tches' forums instead of these...f*cking pricks...everybody was a NEWB at some point...you werent born DJ Premier muthaf*cka....please...

Okay dude, theres basic questions then theres time wasting common sense chapter 1 shit. I understand if dude wanted pointers on composing a sequence, or something that had to do with swing adjustment or even timing correct, or maybe even pointers on chopping samples, but allow me to ansewr them all, because I am a so called Holier than Thou MPC expert. so here it goes

Refer to MPC(specify model number) Manual "Sampling"
But the people on Youtube got all their information by some great man ansewring all their basic operation questions on a internet forum, by e-mail, and DVD instruction with no effort(or money) and became sensations over night. So you might wanna try that, oh and BtW, what MPC are you using?

I didnt think they could load kids, but yea, snare.wav is a sound, not a kit. Hope that helps, oh yeah and which MPC are you using?

many loops and many tracks, look in manual under "sequence-song".
Or you can pray to the great MPC god of DillaChemisDreRockPremo(pronounced one word) and they will bless you with rythem and talent, with a nightly sacrafice of one child, you will master your MPC.....whatever model in no time!

MPC have tags? look under MPC whatever model manual "pad functions" "assignable mutes"and "samling options" or press a bunch of buttins and experiment, which is one piece of advice worth listening to, cause it actually works

I think its because you aren't getting started until you have read the manual
