midi-footswitch?

Hello!

The mpc5000 has the ability to use a footswitch to change to the next sequense but mpc1000 and mpc2500 don't.

with the mpc1000 or 2500 would it be possible to use a footswitch trough midiport to change to the next sequence? For example with

If it's possible, then where do you choose what function the midi-thing controls? In the mpc or in the device that sends the midi-message?
