Hey, newly registered, long time viewer, haha.

Quick question,

If I buy a midi keyboard controller, not powered by usb, can I hook it up to my mpc to perform in this way? :

- Load mpc full of drum and synth/string/piano/etc. samples.
- Lay down a drum beat, and get it looping in a track.
- Select a sample and send it to the keyboard, so I can play it chromatically across the keys
- Get the mpc to record what I'm playing on the keyboard, and add it too the track.
- Then repeat.

IS this possible?

Thanks!

Really, I was hoping for that. But I heard the MPC500 doesn't have an autochromatic feature.

People have said that I need to change the sample by a half pitch, and assign them across multiple pads, changing the pitch by half each time. Then I can use it on the midi controller.

But then people tell me differently as well.

I heard that while, you can't have the autochromatic function, you can pre make programs, that already have the whole half stepping thing done. So I can load a string program on the mpc, and use the midi controller for it, and it will work just fine. But how many programs can the mpc500 hold, and have open and playing in a track?
