Recording Midi from E-Mu MP7 to MPc2000xl

I got ah E-mu Mp7 connected to my mpc....i wanna know how can i record da patterns, sounds, etc..i make on da mp7 over a ..lets say a drum pattern i make on da mpc....is dis possible!


(*Edit*) I wanna use da E-Mu Mp7 in a keyboard manner while its hooked up to da mpc!

Welcome to the forum. Could you be a bit more specific about how you've hooked it up now, and what you want to achieve?
i assume you want to record midi into the mpc, and play back a beat from the mpc with some keys from the MP7......
Do you have them hooked up to a mixer?

OK..i got My E-Mu MP7 hooked up To MY MPC 2000xl by way of a midi cord! i got The mp7 midio out connected to the mpc midi in!

Now..I got THe MPC hooked up to a yahmaha aw2816 workstation. I thinking er thing is hooked up correct because...i can control da volume of the mpc, mp7 through da mixer.

Ok....now..lets say im makin a drum pattern on da mpc and i wanna throw some hornz from da mp7 over dat same drum pattern???? I get sound and feedback from da mixer when i play the mp7...but..I wanna be able to play the mp7 like a keyboard..and let teh mpc record whatever i play!

like when i play da drum pattern back..and i play along on da mp 7to get a idea of what melody i want.......its cool..but when i try to record it onto da mpc..it wont work!

But you can do it on the mpc too. My guess is, you've probably already done that without knowing it. But for the mpc to PLAY BACK the midinotes , you'll need to hook up another midicable from them mpc's midi out-A to the keyboard. Midicable can only send data in 1 direction, keepthat in mind.
Now record your keys on a new track on the mpc, set the track to MIDI A1 instead of DRUM 1. Record in overdub and it should play back your drums and your keys.

The reason i suggested that was because you might want to play a bassline or pianopart that's longer than your drumloop. If you record audio, you can make the part as long as you want, and add variations during the whole song. So istaed of looping a piano you played, you could play the entire song by hand.

If you're not the best pianoplayer in the world (like myself), midi may be a better option cause you can always edit it.
