After almost a year of researching and stalking on ebay, I've finally got my hands on an MPC 1000, and after just 24 hours, I can safely say I am soooo in love 
What you guys have been going on about on here - it all makes sense now.
Thanks to all the expert members whose advice I've diligently read (Nym, B.read, Poundaproblem, Triple-X, Lampdog, and all others) - I'll try not to ask too many noob questions.
Actually, I used to muck around with ensoniq eps and asr samplers back in the day and have found the mpc is kinda similar in how it's laid out inside, so I've been fumbling my way around so far without too much diving into manuals.
Anyways, lots to learn, lots to sample, lots to sequence. Hope I can contribute something useful in the future.
