hi

Try plugging in an ipod/or stereo system and take the bits from records you like. If you don't have that equipment you could sample direct from your pc (remember there's a lot of music on you tube availabls).
Now you could either connect the output of your pc to your mpc 500 input or save a music file (make sure its WAV) and transfer it over via CF card.
Don't stress too hard over getting this drum kit or getting loads of samples. Try thinking about taking pieces from songs you know and practice trimming them so they sound different to how they'd sound originally. Use your imagination.
There are records that have drum sounds on them, but again I couldn't tell you where to find them (for free or otherwise). But again, if youre just starting out its always worth checking out You Tube. At this stage you want to work out a workflow and how to do stuff on your mpc 500.
And read these forums - especially the 500 section. You'll pick up tips as well as links to free stuff.
