i think i do know, im not looking to be a producer, i just started rapping and from many compliments from my co-workers and classmates, ive decided to start making beats. im not a musician but i have a good ear for music and im pretty good with computers. what i have in mind is making the beat with the mpc, importing it to logic, then recording my vocals. and from what i can tell, the mpc 1000 has everything i need. all im looking for is

1. able to slap some drums together
2. sample some insturments (depending on the instrument and preamp/ di box, but ill worry about that later)

i plan to get more complex as i learn the machine and the features and effects it has to offer. but as long as i can screw around with some sounds until its catchy, im good. and as my knowledge for the mpc grows, so will the quality of my beats. i already write rap lyrics like crazy, and im looking forward to actually making something out of them. but i am completely ready to spend a lot of time behind this thing. plus i can sling mixtapes for my cigarette money in college :D

You got your head in the right place and you will do fine.

However the next best piece of advice, quit all the talk and get on the machine ;].

Have fun
