whats the best method to sample with the mpc 1000? like if i wanted to sample a guitar or sound from a cd? or tape? and how do you do this?

Well, the first is to do it the traditional way. You hook your sound source (CD Deck, tape player, vinyl deck etc,,,,,,,) into the jacks in the back of your 1000. You choose Mode, then Record and record the sample straight into the unit. But the cool thing about the 1000 is you can use a PC. If you have access to a PC with USB (or a flash card reader), you can rip the song from CD to your PC's hard drive, then transfer it across to the 1000. This means there's no lack of quality and you don't have to mess around with recording levels etc. Any other questions just holla,,,

analog or digital. If you are getting the 1k. just drag and drop your wave files using the usb.

I use my vinyl, edit it on sound forge then send through the usb. Works like a charm.
I'm a recent college grad that is looking to get into the producing biz. I've been djing for a while but it is time to take the next step.

what software are u guys using to rip samples from mp3,s or cd,s?...sound forge? and whats the best technique to do this and get a nice clean sample of the sound you want??

Yo!
if you hook all your equipment up to your reciever correctly then you can sample from any source. for example in my HS, i have my pc, tape deck, cd player, and turn table connect to my reciever. then my reciever goes out to the mpc which goes to my track machine. so in this configuration i can sample from all the above and any sound that goes through my pc which covers mp3, cds,dvd,divx,games, etc etc...

see that box on the top left...thats a reciever. a stereo reciever you can buy from any store such as best buy, circuit city for @50$ and up.

just so you all know. the majority of the information you are asking about is basic and can be found in the manual. its all about signal flow. sound comes out of one device and into another. whether that is cd player to mpc, computer to mpc, mpc to cassette, whatever. do some research on your own. dig in and hook shit up to see what it does. experiment.
