Sample duration while hitting pads...

I have an MPC2000XL. I want to be able to make my samples play for as long as I hold the pads down. Currently, when I hit a pad, the entire sample will play. It drives me nuts. Sometimes, I want the sample to play for the amount of time I want it to. I can do this on the XL right?

Go to the program screen. Choose the program and pad you want to edit. Then go to params. In the bottom right corner change poly to note off.

another great tip for stopping a sample from playing all damn day (maybe when you loaded it up) is to go SHIFT-PROGRAM. This change of screens will stop the longest sample in the world from playing. Then go back to your main screen and set it to NOTE OFF.
