Just received Akai MPK 25. I am looking for information on how to use the MPK with MPC 2500. The product does not come with a power adapter so I have to use a usb cable to power the device. How do I get the MPK to send information to the MPC 2500 w/ JJOS XL current version? I want to record all date in my MPC. Oh and the equipment I have is Late 2010 Mac Book Pro 15.4 w/ i5 core and 4 GB memory, MBox Pro 3 gen with logic pro 9, Pro Tools 8 and Reason 5.

This is in the manual USB CONNECTION – Plug a standard USB
cable into this outlet and into the USB port of
your computer. The computer’s USB port will
provide power to the MPK25. This
connection is used to send and receive MIDI
data to and from your computer and may also
be used to send MIDI data from your
computer to a device attached to the MIDI
OUT port of the MPK25.

But there is no information on how to use usb power and send information to external device. Also there is this MPK49 MIDI I/O Details @ http://www.akaipro.com/stuff/contentmgr ... etails.pdf
I really don't understand what it is saying.

if you going to power using usb there should be option to toggle between usb midi and analog unless it sends simultaneously...from my personal experience with trigger finger pad controller. I had to get an ac adapter from radio shack in order to use analog midi out, maybe things have changed since then.

This is pretty much the most basic question there is.

As such I'm moving this thread to the noob section.

Go to Akai's website. Take a look at the picture of the rear of the MPK25. There's a power port with the listing of 6V 1A towards the left of the unit.
