My question is, how do I get my samples to not just play all the way through when I hit the pad?
one shot => note-on
read the manual!!!

hmm, maybe my mpc1000 is a different one,
but it definately says "note on" in the menu.

in the play mode window it says "NOTE ON", a note on message is sent for as long as you hit or hold the pad. note off when you let go.

go to program, hit window on the name of the sample and switch it from "oneshot" to "noteon"
