Hello I know this is MPC forum but maybe someone can help me. I got an ASR-10 from craigslist & I accidentally gave the guy back the original os disk. Now he won't answer me :fku:

Question is; where can I find one? (preferably not ebay).

I've downloaded the os onto my laptop to put it on the floppy via usb floppy drive. That requires the disk to be formatted to PC. ASR-10 requires its own formatted disk.

Is there anyway of going around this? Any help is much appreaciated

Yes it will create an image on a disk from your computer that the ASR can read. Pretty easy to use. If worse comes to worse holla at me as I could send you a disk casue I still have my ASR-10. Actually trying to sell it now, too much gear.

Thanks for the suggestion. The EPSDisk I found seem to not work with windows 7. I did see people suggest getting an olp pc with floppy drive. Probably won't be doing that.

I'll grab a copy from you though

The dude that sold that to you is probably sensing that you found something wrong with the asr.

Hence why he's avoiding to answer your calls.

EPSDisk was created decades before win 7, you'll have to adjust.

One option is:

Install VMware on ur Win 7 pc.
Install Win XP Svc pk 2 in VMWare.
Install EPSDisk in Win XP
VMware is not freeware.

Use Virtual Box if you don't have a VMWare license. It's free.

Of if your PC can boot from the floppy drive, make a DOS bootdisk from files here: http://www.bootdisk.com/

Boot your PC into DOS using DOS boot disk.
Run EPSDisk from floppy disk.

I went ahead & got the os disk from ebay. Now just messing around with the keyboard. Thanks for all the help.

One more question though. I have a CD-rom drive, no cable. What is the name of the cable or if there is a website I can get this from? And does it go to the SCSI port?

Thanks again

Do you have a SCSI CD Rom Drive? Without knowing the make and model of your drive it's impossible to tell you what you need.

Check out Syntaur's Cable Guide: http://www.syntaur.com/scsi.html
