How do I get the mpc to save the keyboard insturments

About 8 months ago I bought an MPC 2000 fully loaded with all the trimmings, and I've got it connected via midi to a YAMAHA PSR-290 keyboard. Everythings off the chain BUT, lets say i make a beat, somthin simple like TRACK1=snares, TRACK2=kickdrum, TRACK3=strings,and TRACK4=bass. All on there own midi track, ex. 1A,2A,3A. and save it all on the external zip. when I load it at a later time to work on it, all the selected insturments will be reverted to piano. and i have to go thru and pick each insturment all over again, one by one. My question is, is there a way to put it where all the insturments will automaticaly be saved and I dont have to make a log of each track for each song

for each MIDI track, cursor over to pgm: and select which patch (instrument) you want to use. you have 128 to choose from. so say your working on MIDI:1a and thats the violin. say the violin is number 48 on your keyboard. go over to pgm and select number 48. that should change it to the violin on your keyboard.

if you have more then 128 instruments on your keyboard or sound module or whatever, i just keep it on pgm:off and select the instrument I wanna use for that channel thru the keyboard or the module or whatever....get it?

also make sure your saving all sequences and songs before you turn the mpc off.

thankyou for the advice but the insturments aren't the same as the numbers on the mpc, like 65 on the keboard is TENORSAX and 65 on the mpc is a flute

dont move the jogwheel toooo fast or it will skip numbers and get off. but move it maybe once back and forth to get it back on track. it should straiten itself out. if not im not sure what the problem is. it does that for me sometimes when i go too fast.

also if you have the track turned off, it wont switch the instrument on the module. it has to be ON for you to be able to change the pgm

but thats how you do it. thats what the pgm is there for. to select the patches

yea that would help but you dont NEED to . you'll want to but you can use the sounds from your keyboard if you want. i did until i got my other module the other day so now i dont use my keyboard presets anymore.

heres another way.....when your labeling your tracks (example: Track 1 = Drums,... Track 5 = strings....) label them what they're called on your keyboard so you can easily find what they are when you load it back up.

before i started usin the pgm thing i used to do that. man there's ways to solve the problem. dont just give up and say your gonna do something instead. man your gonna come to road blocks your whole way thru the business. you cant quit everytime you get stuck. you know?
