Hi everyone,
heres my set up

MPC 1000 stereo out --> Microbook II line in 3-4
Microbook main outs --> monitors
Microbook usb to computer (obviously)

i'm trying to track out my sample track + drum track to ableton in order to mix more adequately and possibly add some keys over everything with my MKii.

In Live have set my preference audio settings to
audio input device --> Microbook ii (6 in,8 out)
audio input device --> Microbook ii (6 in,8 out)

i can hear both my MPC and ableton through my monitors but the MPC sounds do not seem to reach live for some reason. Any idea what im doing wrong?

thanks

You're just hearing the monitoring coming out of the main out on the MOTU, which you kind of guessed already as Live showed no input.

In Live. Preferences/Audio/Input Configuration. Make sure the inputs 3+4 are available to Ableton. (You can choose 3,4 Mono and 3+4 Stereo).

Ableton View/Check off In/Out if you haven't already. Each channel will now show Audio or MIDI input/output and allow you to route it wherever (think multiple audio/record tracks say you want one dry one with reverb for example) By "check off" I mean select View In/Out so it has a check mark.

You may also want to disable "Exclusive for Arm and Solo" in the Record/Warp/Launch preferences. Then you are able to record more than one track or monitor. Careful of feedback loops depending on the routing you use. (You may just want to leave them on exclusive, you turn them off if you need to hear the MPC output+Live's output together or monitor multiple tracks at once.
