Hi! Im thinking of buying a Mpc and now i got this offer which i think is pretty cheap. ->

Mpc 2000
+8 out
+scsi zipdrive
+5 times 100mb zipdiscs

Price 600$

Thing is, ive been using fruity loops studio for a long time and do most of my stuff on a fairly good computer so I really wouldnt want to go back using discs and zipdrives and all that. Thats why I've been thinking bout the Mpc 1000 mostly because of the usbconnection. So should i just get this just for the price and maybe sell it later or just save for the Mpc 1000?

Is that $600 US dollars? If so, that is a good price for a USED unit. However, you don't know what you will get. (e.g. scratched, scuffed, non-working components, etc...) If you add a few more hundred dollars, you can get a brand new mpc 1000. Yes it has a USB connection but that is only for file transfer, not connecting it to Fruity Loops or any other type of DAW. You have to use the out's on the back of the unit for that. One of the main difference between the 2 and the 1k is the 1k has only 4 outs and 1 stereo out. I've personally used the 2k b4 but i think the 1k is a better unit overall. If I were you and conscience of price, I would look on ebay for a 1k. I've seen them go brand new for as little as $775.

That's just my opinion.

Also with the 1k, you can get compact flash cards up to 2gig. and you can expand the internal memory to 128mb. It comes standard with 16mb, the 2k comes standard with 2mb.

If it were me I would save for the mpc1k.

You would have:

1. Brand new unit.
2. More features than 2k.
3. Effects standard.
4. Card reader vice ZIP.
5. Warranty.

Thanks guys. I think I'll get this one first, since it's such a bargain and get the 1000 next. Anyhow, the decision is not easy
