Loading Disks on Mpc 2000

Hey, so I just got my mpc a couple days ago. Yesterday i recorded some drums onto a floppy disk but today I tried to load the sounds back onto the MPC and it tells me I dont have enough memory. How could that be if last night I had all those sounds on mpc and was using them? Is there a main bank of saved files that I may have been filling unknowingly? Anyway give me your best guess and itd be much appreciated.

Also when im on the disk screen it shows SND-0k as the memory. There must be a way to reset your memory or something I only had a few drum samples how could that take up all my sound memory?

that sounds funny... reset the machine with no disks in.. see what it says. if it still says 0 memory, maybe your ram chips are loose inside the machine and need to be removed.. and re-inserted to make sure the connection is solid.

Okay so I started the mpc up then took the software disk out. It still says snd=0K. Ill take a look at the ram chips.

As well as making sure they are seated correctly in the RAM sockets, you can try taking them out to see if it recognises the built-in/on-board 2MB of RAM on the mainboard.

Just be very careful with the white plastic RAM sockets and the little plastic clips that hold the RAM modules into the socket, as they can break easily.

And do not touch power supply components, especially when turned on.

So with no ram chips in there should be a base of 2mb on the main board? Cause even with the 2 ram chips in it reads 0.

Yes.

With the extra ram in it disregards the onboard 2mb so you need to take the 32mb out to see if the machine works with just the onboard ram.
If it does, you need to reseat the ram or replace it.
