Mpc 1000 problem

After I lay down a drum loop my sample that I chopped up sounds like crap when I play it over the drums. Its as if the pads were very unresponsive except when I stop the drum loop and play the sample alone it sounds fine. Is this an issue with the mpc or a setting?

Problem solved the drums need to be on the POLY setting or they mute the sample.

Hi, IMHO, you should always make a dedicated program for every drum kit you make. This way, you can quickly lay down a drum foundation, record samples over the beat, then you have the possibility to switch between other loaded/ready drum kit programs while your sequence is playing to see if another kit fits your samples better. Or erase the recorded drums, select a drum kit that fits the recorded samples and lay down a brand new drum foundation over it. Only minor tuning left to do from there.

Same for the samples (not every chops but every sample). They should have their own logically named dedicated programs so you know exactly what is what and where to look.

It's simpler, more organised and faster. You don't want to be looking around for your stuff and loose your inspiration/focus/vision.
