MPC 2500 (master) and Juno 106 (slave)

Hey everyone! I'm currently trying to play my Juno 106 via the pads on my MPC 2500. Here is what I have done (all following the manual):
For the Juno:
There is no specific information on setting it to be a slave beyond connecting the MIDI cable to the MIDI IN jack on the Juno.

For the MPC:
Set Sync out to A (Master)...this is where my MIDI cable is plugged into on the MPC
Set Mode to MIDI Clock
MMC is set to off

After that, I restarted both the Juno 106 and the MPC, but had no luck. The ultimate goal is to record sequences note by note via the pads on the MPC, and then play them through the Juno. MPC just had a factory reset, and all pads are mapped to default MIDI notes.

Master and Slave are terms used when syncing the tempo or time of two devices, you are not doing that, so you don't need sync.

You need to set the current MPC sequencer track to a MIDI channel and MIDI output which match your Juno.

As Simon said, you do not need sync to achieve the desired outcome. Simply connect the MPC MIDI OUT to the Juno MIDI IN and set the MPC to a MIDI track. You'll probably want the MPC pads assigned chromatically to assist you in triggering the Juno, the default pad mapping is not useful for triggering synths as the notes are not arranged consecutively.
