How To Trigger MPC Sounds via Midi Keyboard Controller?

I am a newbie to the MPC world and probably one of the oldest guys on this forum--Lol.

Can someone please walk me through how to set up a midi keyboard controller so it can play sounds on my Akai MPC One---as a stand alone device (so no computer involved)? I naively thought it was a matter of simply plugging in my keyboard controller and then it would just work (plug and play so to speak).

Steps I Took:

1. Starting with the MPC device switched off. Connect my Arturia Minilab MKII keyboard controller from its USB port to the MPC One USB port.

2. Turn on the MPC device and see then see the lights on the keyboard controller come one/off. So I know its getting power as usual.

3. From the MPC device I load an empty project. Select Plugin Mode: TubeSynth and select Preset: Static Supersaw. Touch a few MPC pads to confirm the sound is working as usual.

4. From here I assumed no other settings needed to be adjusted---on the keyboard or MPC. And that pressing any keys on my keyboard controller would in turn trigger the MPC Static Supersaw sound I had chosen.

However, nothing happens? I assume my keyboard controller is compatible with my MPC and so I guess there are settings I must adjust manually---for example perhaps midi channel is incorrect?

Appreciate any guidance here. Keep in mind I am very new so things that might seem obvious to you may not be for me.

Ok so I now see that my initial thought was right. It is plug and play. Just plug in the keyboard and it works. But the keyboard only gets recognized after you power on the MPC and then hook up the keyboard. If it's already hooked up and then you switch on the MPC it won't work.

Must be a bug?
