MPC1000 q tuning linked to tempo

Hi, MPC newbie here,
I recently bought a mint mpc1000 and love it. I was wondering if there's a way to not have the Q link tuning linked to tempo?
The Q link is set to TUN but the tempo rises or falls too as i move the fader...

The tempo of what, the Sample or the master track?

The q-link set to tune changes the rate that samples are played... which is a factor of tempo in that sense... and is how it works...

If the master tempo is changing then something weird is setup...
