Do I need a mixing board to record MIDI and have it play as one with my 2kxl sounds through the monitors. I hook up the MIDI cables and when I record it will only playback through the keyboard speakers, while the drums come through the monitors. The only solution i found was to sample through the headphone jack but I cannot record in real time over a beat like that. Do I have to make/change a connection somewhere?

Sorry if this is a dumb question but before a buy a mixing board I want to get familiar with everthing that the 2kxl does on its own instead of having a bunch of expensive equiptment that I am not really familiar how to use.

Midi is NOT audio.

Hook up your mpc to your mixer and you keyboard to your mixer.

midi mpc and keyboard together.

All sounds should come together in your mixer. If your mixer is only 2 ch then you need to get at least a mixer with 4ch ins...

Ehm, since it's a dj mixer, may I suggest that it's 4 channel already (2 x stereo = 4 ). It wouldn't make much sense make a dj mixer with one stereo input and one fader right?

So just hook the mpc left and right output up to channel one on your dj mixer. You'll probably need a 1/4 jack to rca cable for this.

And the keyboard output to the second channel.
