Internal zip install, not detecting

I just installed my internal zip and my mpc 2kxl does not recognize it. I keep getting the message floppy not detected. I checked out midicase.com and followed the links to the install but it does not help at me. My ribbon cable also does not fit in the spot where the floppy was plugged into, it is next to it. Also on the midicase.com page he mentioned modifying the power cable but I have not had to splice into any wires. I bought a zip drive kit from ebay that is supposed to work for the xl. I checked my jumper settings and they are in the master position. I need help asap, thanks!

If anyone has modded their power wire can you please give details, the picture on midicase doesn't show what wire needs to be splice with another wire. Thanks!!!!!

The ribbon cable wont fit in the old floppy drive location. You have to plug it in to the ide housing on the mother board of the mpc. Floppy controller ribbon is 34 pins and the ide or atapi zip drive ribon cable is 40 pins. If you brought the power conecter then you dont need to splice anything. Just plug the cable into the right spot and you will be str8

I got it all hooked up properly then, however my mpc does not recognize atapi, it still searches for the floppy. I need help!

what is the ZIP Drive set MASTER or SLAVE? I'm sure its meant to be on MASTER.

I have one zipdrive here that my MPC2000xl refuses to recognize, and two that it does recognize. My Mac G4 recocnizes all three, so there's nothing wrong with the drive. If you have the opportunity, try someone else's zipdrive with your MPC and the same cables.

Oh, sometimes the IDE cable feels like it's all the way in the motherboard socket when it's not. I know you checked it, but double-check it anyway - I've had some frustrating moments when I overlooked this.

i'm having the same exact problem.
the drive powers up fine and sounds like its working right, but the mpc just keeps looking for the missing floppy drive. i will look for another IDE zip drive to test but i don't have one handy.

does anyone have any other ideas?

i have double checked that the ribbon cables are seated properly and that the drive is set to 'MASTER'.

lo-fi: is there anything different about the zip drive you have that your mpc does not recognize?

Dude, I know you are "HipHop247" but please take some extra minutes out to do a search also. This has been covered millions of times.

double double check the ribboncable that it is firmly in the socket both ends... and that the cable is not broken somewhere... we had same problem with my friend with same thing but my friend just didnt use enough force when he putted the ribboncable into the motherboard of mpc i checked it and pushed it hard and it still went littlebit into the socket and it started working... before that it just did same thing you are getting..
