just got my MPC2000XL pro

and it has the old 1.44 floppy disk space. my friend told me my best option is to buy an external zip off ebay . any suggestions on the type of external drive to buy w/ the amount of memory and - do i need a specific cable to hook it up to my MPC ?

Buy a 100 or 150 MB Zip drive (external)

Make sure it has a SCSI out with a termination switch and a switch for SCSI 5/6 (you'll see it on the back)

Make sure its not parallel or anything like that - you'll wanna power cord and a SCSI cord with SCSI connex on both ends - try these links .....
