As the topic states the question, the only thing I will expound upon is the specifics. If you want to skip the background and get straight to the question, last two paragraphs.

I am writing a sort of old school techno piece (think modern Kraftwerk but with my own flavor) using only the arranger (no track mutes) and only using stand alone mode on the current v3 beta firmware. This means, only using instrument plugins and FX plugins only available on the unit itself, which include both free and paid for VST's sold by Akai / Air Music (no third party plugins, 16 in total have been released, with four expansions for Hype, Jura, Flavor Pro, and Fabric XL). I am also limiting myself to only using expansions that Akai officially released (currently, I have licenses to all 89 expansions that I purchased since the MPC Touch was released, basically, every modern expansion that I am aware of).

I am no stranger to the modern MPC platform, I have an MPC Touch that I still use today, the OG MPC Live 1 that is connected to my MPC Live 2 (I use both together and output the audio from the Live 1 to the Live 2 speaker or PA system in live performances, or headphones in final mixdowns) and I have an MPK 225 & MPK 249 board connected to the Live 1 and Live 2.

This project is predicated on the question, can you write an entire track on the platform and mix / master it to be radio ready with nothing but the MPC itself? Keep in mind, all of the limitations (eight instruments, four FX inserts per track, etc and using techniques like bouncing a VST instrument to a wav file to get more instruments in, etc are all fair game in this endeavor.

Im doing a full set, a full LP if you will, currently at 35 tracks with a 12 minute track, BPM 120, using 3/4, 4/4, and 7/8 time signatures, currently all in one sequence, but will probably split into multiple sequences only because of the *only 4/4 time signature limitation* and the *six bookmark locations limitation*. 300 bars so far hahahaha. Its going well, with one exception.

I am trying to use the motherducker plugin and a ping pong delay plugin. It used to be that you would assign the motherducker main plugin (the one with all the settings) to the track you wanted to actually duck the audio for, and then assign the motherducker input plugin (the one with no settings) to the sound you wanted the audio to duck to, for example, maybe your kick. You used to tap the eyeball in the upper left corner and there was a pad icon, youd tap that, then tap the pad you wanted to assign the plugin to, then tap the FX icon and tap the + button and insert the FX plugin there, since my drums are all located on one track (I dont particularly want 16 individual tracks for all my percussion elements), I would like to assign it only to the kick pad, not the entire track. I have another percussion element in the same track that I want to setup a ping pong delay. What makes this a bit more tricky is, I dont want to use these elements for the entire duration of the track, I want to use write automation to enable and disable them at points during the track.

Do I have to explode my percussion elements into individual tracks to do this? Do I have to use Sends to do this? Or is there an easy way to do this like there was pre v3 beta?

Are you basically saying you cannot work out how to assign a plugin instance to an individual pad? In MAIN when you expand the XL Channel strips you'll see a pad icon on the bottom right of the screen. Tap on that to activate the pad channel strip. Or go to PAD MIXER > EFFECTS. Or TRACK EDIT > EFFECTS
