When will they ever learn

Right now I'm in a bad situation my 01x won't auto connect to my mac found out it's a dud so it's going back to the store but that's not my q. I have my Motif midid up to my mpc
Mpc>Midi out A to
Motif>Midi In
Motif>Midi out to
Mpc>Midi in 1......Mpc is the master and the motif slaves to it that's fine. I start a new sequence So I go to the mpc>type>midi>pgrm>off>midi>1a.....Thats fine. I go to the motif and find the drums I want and set them to the correct channel>1a>2a>3a and so on. I had the local off but I need to play the keys and it seems that that's not possible even when I set the correct channel on the mpc, what's the deal how does this work with local off. Because when I sequence my drums I get another piano sound shadowing my drums what is it that i'm missing. What it that i have to do in the motif or mpc that will stop this interference hope yall feel where I'm coming from. I know that this q has been asked before I've read both manuals front to back. Youngkeyz sense you seem to know the motif very well help me out and anybody else I greatly appreciate it

Local OFF means that the motif WON'T play local notes (you won't hear anything when you press the keys).

The mpc might be set to BOTH where it will play the Motif AND mpc note. Check this out inside your mpc.

I understand that. Okay maybe I wasn't to clear or I was on someother stuff. When I set the mpc up to sequence my piano i play the keys on the motif that comes out fine, but when I want to lay the drums I use the pads on the mpc. But when I play it back I get double drums then when I switch channels on the mpc I get this crazy piano noise that is shadowing what my drums are doing. So i need to know what i'm doing wrong. I don't use the motif's sequencer only the mpc's.
