midi sync

midi sync

ok, im a complete newb at this midi sync stuff.

i did it at school once. via midi from my MPC 1000.

now at home, i was using an emagic MT4 interface, but dumped that, and am now using an emu 0404 soundcard w/ midi.

i use logic 5. and when i try to sync, i select sync over midi, or even internal sync. i've tried them all.

some work stablely(SP?). but mostly the tempo just jumps up and down like a 3 year old high on fanta. not like going from 102.003-004

more like the tempo jumps from 120 down to 1 up to 3500 or whatever.
and occasionaly it just seizes up until i unplug a midi cable.

can someone please help or give me a guide to getting midi sync going.

i did a search, but there are like way too many results to sift through.

a search midi + sync gives indeed a lot of results but one could a least open the first in the list an read no ?

im not trying to be an ass, but if u would have just takin a second to narrow your search u would have seen alot of stuff on this topic. You gotta spend time lookin, nobody is gonna hold your hand......

I am slaving my MPC to cubase but the logic is the same for any software u are using.

im not trying to be an ass either, i dont like it either when people are lazy and expect people to be their babysitters for free.

but,

i'm having a problem getting it working. i get everything connected. have set up sync, but as soon as i do something, the tempo just jumps up and down erraticly. and it doesnt work like i've seen it working

Yo sam check this out. I did a little searchin for mpc1000 and monomachine. Has NOTHING to do with you BUT the midi problem you mentioned was there. Might be a midi loop. It said to check the midi thru on the mpc and the software. Turn it off in the mpc Mode:midi soft thru: off. Just a suggestion... :roll:

Isn't there some midi thing that the mpc 1000 can't do. Like midi time code or somethin'?

i fixed the loop.

but the tempo still jumps up and down like a freeking yoyo.

i am not the sort of person to stop at a simple problem, i could see it was looping the signal from the midi data window thing so i disactivated it. but i can not, for the life of me figure out why the tempo jumps up and down.

if you have the computer as the master, what tempo do you have it set to?

Are the tempos in your sequences different or the same?

all exactly the same

it even happens from a blank sequence. it isnt that its changing from sequence to sequence. its going from 120 down to 3 up to 3000. the mpc cant even change its tempo to 3000.

maybe i'll just use cubase ):
