sample chop ? ?

i chop a sample and then after the sample is chopped into how ever many parts i choose, how can i assign it to pads without erasing all the other sounds i got on other pads? u know? like whenever i chop, i choose to create new pgm....then even if the chop is only 4 zones, after i create the pgm, all the other sounds are no longer there ..... anybody get it?

the new program that you create automatically goes into the DRUM1 (i think?) folder, replacing the program that was there. put the new program in another folder and the original program back to folder 1.

I assume you are using an MPC2000XL.

After you do the zoning, and set your chops, you choose EDIT, SLICE SOUND.

When you choose SLICE SOUND, the next screen says "Create new program: YES"

Scroll over to the "YES", and change it to "NO" by turning the data wheel. that way you are not creating a new program that automatically erases the samples you have laid out on your pads.

The downside is that you have to manually go into the program screen, and assign the new samples/chops to pads one at a time.
