Tracking Help Please Help

I need some Help I have a MPCXL with a Fantom X hooked up with my Pro Tools Digi02 Rack Okay now i've have been recording and stuff now how do i track each sound to it's own track i have every fantom sound on track1 and track2 it's my Trion and 3MPCdrums i want to track each sound on its own track not all on 1 I do not have the 8outs to my MPC would i need that or is the Pro tools able to do it just like mpc A is Trion B is fantom i've been working on a beat cd and i want it to sound real good i got 1 track done if anyone would want to listen just send me a email [email protected]

I don't have any of the same gear but the 8 outs isn't necessary.You can track usin the out's on the mpc into the digi002.i assume the triton and fantom are running into the mpc.You have to record 2 tracks at a time.You can use track mute or the mixer to lower the volume of certain tracks and then record 2 at a time.

Like i said i don't have the same gear but that should work.If i told you anything wrong,someone will give you some more info to help you out.

I'm gonna assume everything is sequenced in the MPC, here's what you do...


Create as many mono and stereo tracks as necessary(you can also name them for the specific part being tracked,kick, snare, etc., this makes it easier to work with audio regions later), you can either setup the inputs before or during the session, if you always have the same instruments connected to the same inputs I'd go ahead and setup a default session with the appropriate inputs.

Okay, so now you have however many blank tracks, go to the input tab(just above the fader) and select the correct input for that track, for example, if you have the MPC connected to input 1 and 2 on the 002 you would select input 1 or 2 for mono tracks or input 1/2 for stereo parts.

In the MPC solo which ever track you want to record(i'm gonna assume you have everything synced up), hit record/play in PT and record the track, hit stop then hit the next track soft key(F6 I think), no need to hit solo again, it will automatically be soloed(*is that how you spell that?), then record the next track, etc, etc.

I probabaly skipped some minor steps but this should get you goin in the right direction
