does anybody know if Akai intends to make something like a MPC 1000xl with the abillity to stretch samples? in case not, why?

Akai "says" their going to release a major update for the 1K. The update will have all the features it should have had originally. If your worried about time-stretch, I would reccomend you get a Wave Editor (i.e. Audacity, Sound Forge, Recycle, etc.). You can also apply effects, EQ, reverse, change the pitch, and so much more. Most of us in here are using Wave Editors.

Alright then. i was thinking about buying the 4k but i think the price is too high - I use reason at the moment with recycle, but i think i'm gonna buy the 1k though.

Yo BC, out of curiousity, where did you learn this bit of info? Akai has been talking about an update of features for awhile now. (almost since the last os update)

and did you also learn when?

I honestly don't think they need to because the of the 1000's ability to work with computers(which can timestretch alot faster than MPC's).

I saw it in the Lil' John issue of scratch. Nobody knows exactly when this update is coming, and frankly, I don't give a **** if it does. As long as I have my computer, I'm good! 8)

Cool. You can sync your 1K with Reason via MIDI.

Yeah I see, very handy. but if i only wanted to use the mpc as a midi trigger, wouldn't it be a better solution to buy the mpd-16 pads alone... The idea was to switch away from using reason and mainly use the mpc 1k (now with some audio editor because of the lack of features)..

No, this is a way to use reason as a sound mod for the mpc. you would be sequencing on the mpc and using the sounds from reason as if you had a mo phat mod or a motif mod.
