mpc 2000 questions....

I have a couple questions regarding hiphop production on MPC 2000. When you are setting your count there is no option for 1/2. I try using the 1/4 count but when i play the drums to it, the tune ends up sounding rock and roll. Could someone help me out?

Also, when i tried loading the drum sequence i made onto a floppy and then put the floppy into the computer, i could play the sequence but there was just weird piano noises that i cant figure out. They kind of went with the tune but it wasn't just the drums like i loaded.

Thanks for the info, still trying to get the hang of this thing. The manual doesn't say anything about hiphop production specifically so im having a hard time starting. I have a turntable i bought with some records but need some kind of cable i guess to hook the MPC up to the turntable.

I don't know what you mean by this, but no one can use less than 1/4 and we/they all make drums fine. Maybe if you could elaborate by "rock and roll" sounding?

That's because you saved a MIDI file and your PC can only play standard MIDI. You can't transfer beats directly to your PC from your MPC. The only way to get your beats onto a PC is recording from the MPC's analog or SPDIF outs into a digital recording device and then load the WAV into your PC.

If it's not a pre-amplified turntable (andmost aren't) then you'll need a DJ mixer to run it into, then run the outs of the mixer into the INs on your MPC.

thanks a lot for the information. Once i get a mixer to run the turntable into the MPC, instead of setting it to drum, set it to Midi and then just hit record + play to record the sample into the machine?
