Appoligies if this has been posted before, I did do several searches to see if this has been brought up before but didn't find anything. My problem is that after creating the song, programs, parts, tracks etc. on my MPC4000 I find myself spending a significant amount of time loading each item each time i turn the unit on. I hope to use mine for live use. Is there a way to just have the unit power one and then load from one file type? i know the multi will load both programs and the samples at once but I still have to load the song file seperate.

Also, what is the best file system that you use? I have made folders for each of my songs. Each folder contains all of that songs files. But what if I use a program for multipule songs...say like a drum kit. Do I have to have that kit and its samples in each folder for it to load at once? I f so, that would mean I would have the drumkit saved multiple times in diffrent places. thats no very efficient....

Any advice?

Sup Ceelow,

peep the Future Producers website. It's got some useful little tutorials on there for your MPC.

http://www.futureproducers.com/tutorial.php/id/41

I know it's a tutorial for the 1k, but I think it's a good insight into how you should start saving and organising all samples/songs/projects etc.

You may have to register on the site, but this takes minutes, and there are some other MPC-Forums members on there too!

Peace

thanks brother, I appreciate the info. Hows the UK treating you?

Man, I work for a huge multi-national corporation (General Electric - you may have heard of them), and the mo-fo's are closing down my office and making everyone redundant a week before Christmas - so it's shi-ite!

On the other hand, we're all gettin paid big time - I think I'm gonna sell my 2k and get the 2500! Hell, I can afford that sh*t! Can't wait to get my hands on that puppy!

UK is cool though man. UK hip-hop is blowin up over here. Some good MCs and some very good producers!

Unfortunately the government wants to ban smoking in public places like bars and restaurants...........no time like now to give up I guess!

Peace to the US.

PS Apologies if this is off-topic!

On the 2kxl there is an autoload of aps and all files that you can set up.
Can you do that on the 4k?

I have a seperate folder for each song also. I sometimes end up saving the same kit in many different song folders. No way around that if you modify that 1 kits samples. You'll have to copy it to another song folder and modify it for that song.
