an easier way to chop samples

I own an MPC 2000 and right now chopping a ten second sample into 5 parts would mean.
1) recording the sample
2)copying it the same amount of times I want to chop it
3) chop each copied sample individually
4) then assigning it to its own pad.
This method is so tedious and time consuming that when it coms to actually sequencing it I'm burned out.
I would like to know if there is a much faster, easier way. Perhaps a way to chop one sample without copying it x amount of times and assigning each part to its own pad all from the original recorded sample.

why would it mean copying the sample 5 times? if you have your 10 second sample, open up the trim screen. hit the F button that corresponds to znEdit (that stands for Zone Edit). put your start and end points and hit the f button thats above EDIT. then save the area you selected as a chop.

it isnt hard at all.
