Quantization Issue

Quantization Issue

I use the mpc 2500 to make mostly hip hop beats and Ive had it for a good two weeks or so. I have been making simple melodies up until recently I saw that when I was playing the keys real fast on my keyboard, it didn't play back as it was supposed to sound.

The sounds were jumbled up and Im thinking it was the "time correct's" fault

anybody know how to fix this so I could record what I actually play?

Thanks, I think I was recording at either 1/8 50% when this happened or 1/16 50%.

It wasn't the mpc's fault, but rather your fault for not knowing how to use it. :wink: Just experiment with each setting to find what works best. If you still can't get it sounding how you want, try turning the time correction off totally.
I still sometimes record a track and have to go back and re-record it, trying different settings, to find which setting works best for what I want. And I've had the MPC for over a year.

what if the beat requires some kind of quantization though?

I have no idea how I would get around that, maybe I could but I would miss the time correct, because for certain parts of the song I really need it.

Ill mess around with it and see what I can do...

record with no quantize.

record WITH quantize when you need it, and KNOW
which quantize you will need.

a whole song doesn't have to be one or the other, use both methods in the same sequence on parts that need it. change the timing when overdubbing and use timing or take away timing if you need it.
