the microkorg and the mcron are polyphonic, which means that you can play several notes at once (chords, for example), as opposed to monophonic synths which i already explained above.

as far as hooking them up, it would be best to have the midi out from a keyboard going into the midi in of the mpc, so you can record notes into the mpc's sequencer. then have your midi out from your mpc going into the midi in on your keyboard, so that the mpc's sequencer will play back the note data and other control changes that you wish to utilize on your synth/keyboard. you'll also need audio cables for the mpc and your keyboard synth connected to a mixer, so that you can hear the audio from both units. midi only transmits and receives data, not sound.

that's just the basics right there. once you have all those pieces, theres more to learn about midi and audio, which can be found by searching these forums.

Yeah, you just need 1/4" to RCA cables or adaptors, and use the LINE inputs instead of the phono inputs.
