Hold Note on MPC 2000 XL

hey whats up i just have a simple question about the mpc 2000xl;
Can you hold a pad down and control the length of a sample and let go to cut it off, you know kinda like a keyboard? i know this may be a stupid question but i would really appreciate some feedback thanks

yeah its called "note off" its in your programs
