I need a drum 101

So I've been trying to find some good clean drums to use im my 1k, and I'm finding it near impossible to fillter out the Basslines and everything else in the sample. Unless I gotta drum break Im sampling, it ends up garbage. can some one give me a 101 on this?? Do u just use drum breaks for drum hits, or is it just some frequencies need to be toned down?

And another thing, whats common practice for laying out drums in a program? everyone just have the own style, or is their a way thats just standard?

you lay your drums out in your program however you want and feel comfortable with..

filtering out sounds in a wav cannot be done completely as you've already figured out, there will usually be some artifacts (background noise/sound) left behind.

just catch a lone drum sounding off, chop it and use it..

download drums from the internet, sample from vinyl, sample from cd, sample from wherever and whatever. again, find the drums that are all by all alone playing and chop those up (manually).. or you can get software to find the one drums automatically and chop them automatically (if your feeling lazy that day, I do it sometimes).. I use sound forge for that..
