i use a 60 and to chop i do it manually by copying zones into new pads. i've never seen the zoning process done on the 2kxl.

what can it do? i know it's waveform, but does it actually chop up the loop how it 'should' be chopped? like, does it automatically choose for you how the sample should be chopped or what?

i've only seen a short clip off the net of someone setting their zones to say 5 and it looked like he set them himself using the waveform edit tool. maybe i'm mistaken, but i thought i heard it can automatically zone a sample by zoning in between the lowest audio levels of the sample (i.e. pauses during chord/note changes on a guitar riff). is this true?

also, what's the maximum zones you can have in a given sample?

Max zones = 16.

All it does is take how many zones you want and splits them evenly across depending on how long the sample is. You have to make adjustments yourself.

oh, so then you just adjust each zone's start/end pts accordingly? i do like the waveform editting on that machine. i wish could borrow one for a week and test it out.

where you at in san diego?

In zone, you can specify the zone start and end points up to a max of 16 zones like Spectre said. Or you can leave it alone (automatic) and just proceed to make a program out of the zones.
