HI, i got an mpc200xl and a yamaha PS160 keyboard. Ive got it from midi out on the board to midi in (1) on the mpc and from mpc out (A) to the midi in on the keyboard.

What i want is to use the keys to play sounds on the mpc instead of using the drum pad. i got it working once b4 but dunno how, wondered if i had to change any thing on the mpc, ive got programs loaded and i can get the mpc to output on the keyboard, so i know the notes are compatable but jus cant find it!!

any help would be appriciated, HAM

So u want to play your kick, snare, hi hat, ect on the keys correct? If so just connect as stated MPC out to Keyboard IN and Keyboard OUT to MPC IN.

Keep the tracks DRUM instead of MIDI.

Press the keys and u should hear the mpc sounds. Also turn your keyboard volume completely off so all u hear is the MPC sounds. Not sure why u want to play those sounds on the keys but thats totally up to you.

Now are u tryin to lay the sounds chromatically across the keys? If so then thats another step needed.(see below)

"Go to your program/params page select your sound, and go to"auto chromatic assign".This will put the sounds across your keyboard controllers key pads.

When this is done it will create a new program, and you wll also have to go to drum one and reassign the program you were using.

Then to excess the mapped out sound,go to drum 2 in your params and assign the new program you made and make it drum 2 on your main screen.Refer to loading multiple programs in your manual if you still need help with this."(akaimpc)

Let me know.
