Bars and hip-hop beats.

Like after you have your loops/sequences together and youre ready to create a song with them? I use song mode but Im not sure how to build my bars correct.

How does the song go, does it look somethin like this?

Intro-2,4 bars?
Chorus-2,4?
Main beat- ?

Im not really sure.

Does anybody know any basic tips when it comes to making a song?

Verse-16bars
Chorus-8 bars
Outro-4 bars

how many bars are your sequences?

i typically make 8 bar sequences to start and if i need one shorter chop the end off of it. using song mode is good, it lets you map out your song and gives a visual for experimenting. I usually start by making a nicely filled sequence which i'll use as my verse (not always but most times). From there i'll add or take away from it to create the changes. usually letting the music lead me, trying to stay away from predictable structure, that being said i still have 16 bar spots for the emcee and a varying amount of space for the bridge, chorus, etc. make your own rules and then break them.

How about the bridge?

Bridge and Chorus go bout hand in hand. If u are the producer doesnt it make sense that u decide how long u want it to be. Its your beat or either if u are for sure having somebody make a song to it have them rap on it and then u can do even more to the beat.

Thats what I use... although you can mix it up, obviously... make it a 4 bar chorus, etc...


The bridge should be factored into the end of the main sequence, at least thats the way I have it... its really up to you...


But, if you wanted the two second answer... drop 4 bars for an intro... 16 for the main verse... 8 (or 4) for the main chorus... then drop a 16 with some form of switchup for the second verse... new chorus with a bit of a change... etc etc etc...

I'd say let the last 2 bars of a 16 bar verse be the brigde/break/whatever, right before the chorus. Listen to Ghostface Killah - Be Easy and you'll know what I mean.

Be Easy is my shit. Man, if that song doesnt blow up this summer, this hip hop gig aint what its cut out to be.

fishscale is dope but i heard alot of samples that i've heard before. thats my only complaint.

structure your song how you want. some emcee's like to spit 24 or 32 bar verses. just depends on the song/concept. but yeah, nicole hit the basic structure right on.
